We invite proposals for articles to be published in this 11/2020 issue of Rocznik Komparatystyczny / Comparative Yearbook titled “Melodrama: Transcultural Considerations”.
The title of the issue corresponds to the perception of melodrama as shifting from being “the organised body, slave to morality and representation to the ethical and creative potential of the expressive body” (del Rio). The volume is supposed to provide a forum for further discussions of melodrama conceived of (yet not limited to) as the following themes:
- melodrama in history / history of melodrama
- melodrama: before genre? / genre or mode? / transgenre?
- media perceptions of melodrama
- role of melodrama in mitigating/instigating ideologies
- individual and communal experiences of melodrama
- melodrama as performance
- spectatorial (e.g. critical, affective, intellectual, political etc.) responses to melodrama
- legacies of melodrama
- melodramatic realism / excess
- production/s of melodrama
…and many more: the above list does not exhaust the potential topics that the submissions can refer to.
Scholars interested in contributing an essay of approximately 5,000 words with 1.5 spaces are invited to send it to Marta Skwara (marta.skwara@usz.edu.pl) and Beata Zawadka (beata.zawadka@usz.edu.pl) by September 15, 2020. All submissions must include a 100-word biographical statement. All articles will undergo a review process. The editors reserve the right to refuse articles or to propose modifications before publication.

Zapraszamy do publikacji artykułów w jedenastym numerze (11/2020) Rocznika Komparatystycznego / Comparative Yearbook pt. “Melodramat: rozważania transkulturowe” (“Melodrama: Transcultural Considerations”).
Numer ma na celu wszechstronne ukazanie melodramatu w stanie przejścia od “zorganizowanej całości, niewolnika moralności i reprezentacji” do “kategorii ekspresywnej, wyrażającej etyczny i kreatywny potencjał” (del Rio). Niniejszy tom zaplanowany jest jako forum do (dalszych) dyskusji and melodramatem rozumianym jako:
- koncepcja historyczna
- ur-gatunek? / gatunek? / dominanta kulturowa? / transgatunek?
- kategoria transmedialna
- kategoria ideologiczna
Interesuje nas także:
- indywidualne/społeczne doświadczanie melodramatu
- melodramat jako performans
- widz i melodramat
- dziedzictwo melodramatu
- melodramatyczny realizm / nadrealizm
- produkcja melodramatu
Autorzy zainteresowani publikacją w tym numerze Rocznika… proszeni są o nadsyłanie tekstów (c.a. 5000 słów, odstęp 1.5) wraz z biogramem (100 słów) do Marty Skwary (marta.skwara@usz.edu.pl) i Beaty Zawadki (beata.zawadka@usz.edu.pl) do 15 września 2020. Wszystkie artykuły podlegają recenzji. Redakcja zastrzega sobie prawo do odrzucenia bądź modyfikacji artykułów przed ich opublikowaniem.
